Davis Memorial Hospital's staff got one last look at an outpatient care center on Thursday.
It was a chance to tour the site before the walls and interior take shape. The outpatient care center measures 73,000 square feet.
"We're celebrating the capping off, which constitutes the roof being put on the building and under roof, and that why's were calling it a capping off party, and it really gives the opportunity for our employees and the public to come in and see what goes into a building of this size," said Carl Nichols, vice president of physician practice at Davis Memorial Hospital.
The project is only two months behind, but that was only due to winter months being like they were for Randolph County, but it has been made up in strides with the schedule construction workers are following.
"We're still shooting probably, we were hoping for January so its probably going to be February or March before the facility will be open for the public," Nichols said.
When the project is completed in early 2014 hospital, officials and those who visit Davis Memorial Hospital will find one thing that's going to be easy for them, convenience.
"You park your car, you come in you can see your doctor, you can see your specialist, you can get your medications or testing done and only have to get in and out of your car one time," Nichols said.
Davis Memorial Hospital CEO Mark Doak said a lot of services are moving to outpatient services versus in patient services, that's why Davis Memorial Hospital wanted to be a leader for its region.
"I think it's something that all employees are very proud of to see that we're progressing, moving forward, and we're anxious to get this completed, which will be spring of 2014. So the construction is going very well, we wanted to show people where we are, and looking forward in getting it completed," said Doak.
