The Doddridge County Commission was on track to approve a new flood plain ordinance, but after receiving many comments from the public, commission held a public meeting on Wednesday to discuss it further.
Landowners, lawyers, and natural gas representatives addressed the ordinance with things they felt needed to be changed, taken out, or added in.
Commission said it will consider these comments and possibly rewrite it.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will also look it over.
"I always talk to FEMA. I've got a very good relationship with FEMA Region 3, a representative there. I talk to her daily. They do take this stuff into consideration, there are good concerns in Doddridge County that need to be addressed with FEMA," said Kevin Sneed the West Virginia Flood Insurance Coordinator.
The commission said it hopes an ordinance will be ready for the first reading by its next meeting on May 7.
