The trial of an Upshur County man, charged with felony child abuse resulting in death continued Wednesday.
The state called several witnesses to offer testimony about what lead to the child's death in August 2010.
Some of the witnesses included the child's grandmother and two sheriff deputies who handled the investigation.
Prosecutors said Jonathan Queen, 24, inflicted substantial physical pain on a 21-month-old child.
The child died several days later at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Queen was the child's guardian.
Prosecutors presented different statements given by Queen.
Defense attorneys claim the statements were similar, and said there is no indication harm was done to the child.
The state was expected to rest earlier Wednesday afternoon.
The defense will call its witnesses Thursday.
