Davis and Elkins College has received a grant from the Snowshoe Foundation to help improve health in the Randolph County area.
The Sport Science department at D&E is looking for volunteers to start Project Life Change.
The program will help participants become healthier through exercise and guidance form the department over 16 weeks.
Organizers said the program is an effort to reverse a dangerous trend around the country.
"West Virginia ranks third in the country right now in obesity, and is expected to continue to grow. We're at about 34 percent that are classified as obese in the state, and that's projected to grow to over 60 percent by the year 2030," said Jennifer Riggleman, of Davis and Elkins College.
