Elementary students in Upshur County learned more about the judicial system Friday.
Gifted first through fifth grade students from seven different schools participated in a mock trial.
Teachers said the project introduces students to our judicial system.
Third grader Katie Pearson said she learned being a defense attorney is a tough job.
"That it's really hard and you have to do it every single day and if you don't get it right during the actual trial then you're going to mess up and your client either gonna get sent to jail or he's just going to be innocent," Pearson said.
Pearson was successful as a defense attorney because her client, who was accused of bank robbery, was found not guilty.
