A team of Gilmer County High School students is following in the footsteps of the Rocket Boys.
It's one of 100 teams across the country to go to the Team American Rocketry Challenge Finals in Virginia next month.
The students created a rocket to carry a payload 750 feet in the air and then return it safely in 50 seconds.
Teams were judged on how closely they could meet those marks.
"We put it into a program into a computer and then we ran tests with it, and then once we got a rocket in the area we wanted it, we actually physically built this and launched it to see where we were actually at," said Zach Chapman, sophomore.
The winning team will compete in France this summer against teams from other countries.
Two teams from North Marion High School also are in the finals.
