The Fairmont General Hospital Foundation recently raised $500,000 for a new digital mammography machine.
Now it has begun a new campaign.
The Foundation wants to raise $180,000 for a navigational bronchoscopy system for the hospital.
The system will produce real time 3-D images enabling physicians to take biopsies of the lungs.
"Not only does this allow us to diagnose more tumors of the lung, but it allows us to do it with a significantly reduced complication rate," said Robert Marquadt, FGH President and CEO.
The Foundation said it expects to complete its for the Navigational Bronchoscopy system by the end of the year.
