Operating hours for the Morgantown Lock and Dam have been extended for spring, and they could be extended further.

The Pittsburgh District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said April 8 that lock operating hours were expanded to 7 a.m. through 3 p.m. Monday through Friday as of April 2.

"It is anticipated that Morgantown will further expand service levels within the next three months to 7 days per week as staffing shortages are filled. A revised notice will be posted when this level of service will be provided," the corps said in a notice to navigation interests.

The lock at Hildebrand and Opekiska will remain closed indefinitely except for commercial appointment lockages, the Pittsburgh District said.
