The new Lewis County courthouse annex is almost finished.
Work has started on the outdoor areas of the building. Workers were laying down new sidewalks and clearing trees Thursday.
Magistrate Michael Gissy said the new building will provide some serious benefits for Lewis County residents.
"Accessibility for the public to be able to come in and be able to get to any of the courts, from the family law master to the circuit court judge to any of the magistrates. And currently that is impossible without running various directions," Gissy said.
County employees will begin moving into the annex this summer a few weeks before it opens for regular business.
