The Taylor County Emergency Squad responded to the Arch Coal Leer Mine in Taylor County Thursday morning.
One miner was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital after being knocked into a roof bolting machine. A Mine Safety and Health Administration spokesperson said x-rays indicated that the man didn't have any broken bones and his injuries didn't appear to be life threatening. The employee was flown to the hospital out of an abundance of caution, said Arch Coal Spokesperson Kim Link. Friday, the miner is in fair condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Arch Coal said it is actively investigating the incident. Link said this is the first safety incident at Leer mine is 260 days.
