MVB MVP: Ritchie County 3rd Baseman Tyler Reed

When you think of Spring sports in Ritchie County, softball is typically the first thing that comes to mind. But the baseball team is slowly but surely bringing the buzz back to Ellenboro.

"I have a lot of faith in the team," sophomore third baseman Tyler Reed said. "We hit the ball really good. Everybody put the work in during the winter. We hit on Sunday's and come together like a family."

Tyler Reed plays third base for the Rebels. His development has been stunning so far this season. Not only does Tyler bat in the five hole, but he's only a sophomore. He said Ritchie County High School is the reason he's progressed in the sport.

"I've played baseball since I was probably three or four. But this year we finally got a weight room in our school. It was nice to get one, so I didn't play basketball. I thought I should be in the weight room and get ready for football and I started playing baseball. So I lifted to get better for baseball, along with speed and improving my arm," Reed said.

Tyler went 2-for-4 with a home run in Wednesday's win over Lincoln. It's a steady upward progression for the standout sophomore that admits baseball will be in his future at the next level.

"I got a couple emails from schools, but I'm trying to concentrate on this for now and let it come to me," Reed added.
