The Harrison County Street Crimes and Drugs Unit seized a large amount of bath salts around 12:30 a.m. Saturday while executing a search warrant in the Brushy Fork Road area of Harrison County, according to Sheriff Albert Marano.
SCAD members encountered an active meth lab at the scene and moments later, it exploded. Other people were in the residence at the time of explosion and deputies were able to evacuate everyone safely, Marano said.
The SCAD is currently seeking both a man and a woman who lived in the home for questioning. Marano said they weren't home at the time of the explosion.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Department sent its deputies who also serve as meth lab technicians to assist in collecting evidence and removing other hazardous materials from the scene.
Marano said the investigation is ongoing and it isn't hazardous to be in the Brushy Fork Road area as a result of the explosion.
