Around 40 people participated in the West Virginia Irish Road Bowling competition on Saturday.
The event was held at Coopers Rock State Park, and brought out a big crowd considering the area is still covered in snow.
Irish Road Bowling is a fairly new sport. It was brought to the states in the early 90s'.
"Irish Road Bowling is nothing more than taking a steel ball, like an old cannon ball, weighs a little bit less than two pounds and throwing it down the road and run after it," said John Nelson, the treasurer of the WV Irish Road Bowl Association. "If it goes off the road, run, bring it back on the road and the next person throws next."
The next Irish Road Bowling tournament will be the last week in April.
