New signage for the Buckhannon area is one project Create Buckhannon is hoping to complete soon.
Organizers said the proposed signs will help residents and visitors find their way around the city.
"We want to acquaint visitors and people not familiar with Buckhannon with where various venues are located, where the college is, where the schools are for athletic events just to make it easier for visitors to find their way in town and location there looking for," said Rich Clemens, of Create Buckhannon.
Clemens said one concern is that the signs currently located at both Buckhannon exits don't properly direct motorists into town.
"While we have hospital signs at the various exits, we don't indicate once they get off, we don't indicate which way to turn," said Clemens.
Another concern are standard signs located off the corner and are difficult to pick out. Create Buckhannon would like to see those crossroad signs through several intersections of Main Street Buckhannon placed in another location.
"We've talked about putting signs up asking the Department of Highways since it's a state route through town to put crossroad signs up on the main light poles as you go through town, so its much more visible as you come to an intersection", said Clemens.
That request has been sent to the Division of Highways where they'll work with city and project officials to determine the future placement of those signs.
