After several years of raising funds, the Valley Falls State Park Foundation has obtained a 501c3 status from the IRS.
The foundation aims to solicit and receive contributions and grants in support of Valley Falls State Park.
It has been recognized by the State of West Virginia but was never registered with the IRS until this past week.
As a 501c3, it can now receive additional funding from the state for future projects.
"One of the biggest things I'm striving for, its standing right here beside me, its the young people coming in. We want their involvement, we want them out here," said Buddy Myers, of the Valley Falls Foundation.
"The money that the Park Foundation generates stays at this park," said Ronald Fawcett, of Valley Falls.
Valley Falls State Park offers hiking, sightseeing, fishing, picnicking, and more.
The 501c3 status will allow upgrades and new additions to the park.
