According to new rankings from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute, Monongalia County is the healthiest county in the state.
The rankings looked at high school graduation rates, smoking, family and social support.
Ted Krafczyk is the Public Information Officer for the Monongalia County Health Department and said it's all about the community support.
"You need a lot of community support to create the kind of environment that fosters good, healthy living, and we happen to have that here in Monongalia County," Krafczyk said.
Krafczyk added that the county is lucky to have an active health department, good local hospitals, and businesses that help support its residents.
He also said the county still needs to improve in certain areas including obesity.
