A new project, benefiting parents of sick children, is underway at the WVU Children's Hospital.
The Ronald McDonald House bashed a few holes in the wall Thursday as part of a ground breaking ceremony for its new family room.
The room will be located within feet of the pediatric intensive care unit.
The Ronald McDonald House said many families often don't want to leave the hospital while their children are being cared for.
"I'm a father of four children, and I know I wouldn't want to leave them if something were wrong with them so this will give them the opportunity just to step out, take a quick break from what's going on in the room, then step back in if they need to," said Steve De Jesus, of the Ronald McDonald House.
The unit will have a full-size kitchen, breastfeeding room, shower and entertainments space for families and will be open 24-7.
