The Marion County Commission has approved the first reading of an annexation proposed a few weeks ago by the Town of White Hall.
It held a public hearing on the proposed annexation to find out what folks who would be affected by it think and took a week to go through notes, emails, and comments.
The commission approved White Hall's annexation of the Nichols Drive area by a vote of two-to-one.
"Commissioner Tennant and myself voted for annexation, Commissioner Van Gilder voted against it. I voted for it because I think the majority should rule. An overwhelming majority that wanted in is who I voted with," said Randy Elliot, of the Marion County Commission.
The annexation will go into effect after the Town of White Hall finishes the legal work.
