Over the past several months, the Town of Farmington has been raising money to replace the lights at the Ray Kelly Athletic Field.
With several government grants, funding from Marion County Parks and Recreation, and the County Commission, the town now has enough money to get the project started.
It is set to cost nearly $65,000.
Town members said the project will benefit the entire county in more ways then one.
"Other communities can definitely utilize this. We want to allow Mannington, Idamay, Carolina, Barrackville, all the folks to be able to utilize this for our youth league programs. It's been a long time coming. They haven't been able to add anything to the field for a long time so we are anxious to get it all in here," said Jim Hall, of Farmington Little League.
The new lights will be installed in the next couple of days, and an opening day event will be scheduled in the near future.
