The Bridgeport Farmers Market held an Irish community dinner on Sunday to raise funds for vendor fees and market insurance.
Dale Hawkins, Farmers Market President, said they host four dinners a year.
He said the breakfast is special because it celebrates St. Patrick's Day.
Around 100 people came out to the Bridgeport Conference Center to enjoy a traditional Irish meal.
Hawkins said 50-percent of the food served was from local vendors.
He said serving locally grown food is hard to do in the middle of winter.
Hawkins said the market doesn't just help local vendors, it benefits the community as well.
"The farmer's market is a great community builder. It's a place where people meet and socialize. They don't just come to buy food products, but they come and have brunch. They come to socialize, walk their dogs, visit with other people, so it really is a Mecca for people to have a social time," Hawkins said.
The next and last winter farmers market will be on April 7.
And, starting on May 12, there will be a farmers market every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Charles Pointe in Bridgeport.
