The Harrison County Sheriff's Department has arrested Charles "Chuck" Roscoe Henning III, 38, an officer of the Shinnston Police Department.
Henning is accused of seven counts of possessing a controlled substance by fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge. Henning is accused of seizing hydrocodone from people and removing medication from the bottle before putting it in the evidence locker at the Shinnston Police Department, according to a criminal complaint.
Henning was arraigned by Magistrate Keith Marple through a video conference. Henning is being held in North Central Regional Jail with bail set at $175,000. Magistrate Keith Marple ordered that Henning not have any prescription drugs in his possession without a doctor's prescription.
The Shinnston Police Department has a history of legal issues, including former Shinnston Police Chief Michael Secreto who was fired in January and an investigation is ongoing. He had been with the department since 2001.
Former officer Kevin B Junkins Jr, 23, was arrested in December 2011 and is facing charges of possession with intent to deliver hydrocodone, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, among other charges. Junkins is also accused of embezzling money from the evidence room.
