The 10th annual Culinary Classic brings chefs from around the area to Stonewall Resort to showcase their skills and make great meals for the guests.
"It's a unique collection of chefs from around the state of West Virginia and surrounding states. They actually come together as a team and solidify and express culinary uniqueness and culinary cuisine," said Chris Steffich, director of food and beverage at Stonewall Resort.
The event happens over three days and Steffich explained what the chefs do.
"Chefs normally get together, create one or two of their unique items. On Friday night we have a dine around event, and Saturday we actually have a four course wine pairing dinner," said Steffich.
In addition to the dinners, and demonstrations the chefs take part in fun and unique events.
"Each instructor and their teammates, their students, did a throw-down. There was a secret ingredient and they had 15 minutes to come up with their menu. While that's going on we also do a man vs. food challenge," Steffich said.
Saturday night ends with the four course meal prepared by four different chefs. Culinary schools from the area participated by plating the food for the dinner. One of the students said he loves being a Stonewall.
"It's a beautiful resort, the lodging they gave us was really awesome. Just fantastic, they've been very gracious hosts. I'd come back every weekend if they asked me," said Brock Kaltenbach, Columbus Culinary Institute.
Steffich said the Culinary Classic has been a big hit over the years.
"Over the past 10 years the event has grown. In the last four or five years the event will actually sell out one year in advance," said Steffich.
If you're interested in the next Culinary Classic, Stonewall Resort will start taking reservations for next year, on Monday.
