The Sierra Student Coalition at WVU held "Eco-Summit 2013" in and around the Mountainlair on Saturday.
The event had workshops, lectures, and also gave away free basil and tomato plants to students. Guests discussed everything from mountain top removal to shifting campus food purchases to be more local and sustainable.
"I think it's just really neat to find out all of these different issues and more about them," said Hannah Spencer, the President of the Sierra Student Coalition. "There's always more being added onto them. Everyday something new happens so it's nice to have an up to date report instead of just reading an article about it."
The Sierra Student Coalition also had field trips to Coopers Rock. The Monongalia Group of the Sierra Club co-sponsored the event.
