Potential FAA Cuts Could Delay Morgantown Flights

Posted: Updated:

If the sequestration and its budget cuts go into effect on Friday the air traffic control tower at the airport in Bridgeport will shut down.

The effects of that will be felt much further, though.

Morgantown's tower relies on the Bridgeport facility to guide planes traveling farther than the local area.

If the shutdown happens it may mean long delays for the planes bringing business to the region.

"Local pilots, our folks who have our hangars here and fly just within the local area probably won't see any impact. It's going to be those people who are bringing passengers here that are bringing goods here that are coming here to do business here," said Michael Clow, of the Morgantown Municipal Airport.

Clow said there's no way for the airports to prepare for the changes if the sequester cuts do go into effect.
