West Virginia University's "Buy Local" campaign was underway in Shinnston Monday night.
Three students met with local business owners for a round table discussion.
The students heard from the owners about what they would like to see happen and offered ideas to generate more business.
Some of the ideas the students had were to create discount cards for the residents that buy local, and a scavenger hunt that would bring more people into Shinnston and the local stores.
One of the students said that what she wants most is to see the businesses succeed.
"At the end of the day, I'm not thinking about a grade and how I'm going to do, after May comes, I want them to keep it going. Just being around these people, and being in the town, and meeting the business owners, they're wonderful people, and I really want to see them succeed and see this town grow. We're all just thinking of them and want it to be successful," said Lacey Beattie, account executive for the campaign.
The students plan to implement some of their ideas very soon.
