With its peak season coming in just a few months, Stonewall Resort is hiring, and looking for locals to fill their jobs.
Staff at Stonewall Resort were on the hunt for job seekers Monday to help fill their staff as the summer season approaches and the resort gets busier. The resort is managed by a larger company, but staff there said they keep their hiring focused much closer to home.
"Up to 95 percent of our employees are from the state of West Virginia. So while we do appreciate our management company and the resources that it has, we are really looking for the talent and skills that we have here in our backyard," said the resort's Samantha Norris.
Job seekers at the resort had the opportunity to apply for positions in many departments, with many candidates sitting down for an interview, too. Chris Steffich is the Director of Food and Beverage and said the resort offers positions to fit anyone's schedule.
"We also offer jobs that are available for many students, because a lot of our workforce in this area are students and people who are looking for part time opportunities. So if you're looking for 10 hours a week or 40 hours a week, we have a wide variety available to you," said Steffich.
And those area students are just some of the people looking for jobs. Wesleyan student Andrew VanCamp said he's glad for the chance to work at the resort.
"I want to take summer courses this summer, but outside of that, Stonewall is just a beautiful place, I've heard great things about working here, and that's something I would be interested in," VanCamp said.
If you weren't able to make it to the event, resort staff said they'll still be looking for more employees to fill all their open positions.
