Friends of Deckers Creek hosted an Owl Prowl Thursday evening at the West Virginia Botanical Gardens in Morgantown.
The event started with a visit from Luna, the Barn Owl Ambassador for the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia.
The night continued with the group looking for owls native to West Virginia.
"The Botanical Garden has a tributary that runs into Deckers Creek, Tibbs Run, so we thought we'd come out here and check out what Tibbs Run has to offer with way of wildlife," said Doug Gilbert. "This is just another aspect of engaging the public in environmental education."
Gilbert said that screech owls are common in the Botanical Garden.
