Local Volunteer Group Donates to Cancer Center at UHC

Posted: Updated:

Wings of Hope is a group of local volunteers trying to make the lives of cancer patients,  their families, and medical providers easier.

They donated $2,500 to the cancer center at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

This money will be used to cover the costs of medical needs and basic needs such as gas cards, food cards, wigs, transportation, and hotels.

Amanda Mazzie, committee member of Wings of Hope, lost her best friend, her 10-year-old sister, to brain cancer.

"It's hard to lose someone that you love like that, so this is my way of remembering her and honoring her, and still being able to give something back to her, even though she's not here," Mazzie said.

If you're interested in getting involved with Wings of Hope, you can find more information on their website at http://wvwoh.org/.
