United Way of Marion County director Tiffany Samuels made an announcement Wednesday that the 2012-2013 campaign goal has been met and exceeded.
The United Way announced the news during the South Fairmont Rotary Club meeting Wednesday morning.
The goal was set at $455,000 but the organization raised nearly $460,000.
"We've only been in West Virginia, Marion County for two and half years. From the moment we stepped foot in here, they welcomed us and this just shows their support for new people in the county and everyone in the county. Marion County is very tight and they are looking out for each other," said Doreen and Len Larson, 2012-2013 campaign chair.
The campaign is now closed but the number will continue to rise because churches and still calling the office with their pledges.
