A local organization is doing its part to help children in need find security and love at foster homes.
Try-Again Homes is a non-profit foster care agency based in Fairmont.
Its goal is to match up local children with prospective foster homes until they can be reunited with their families. Prospective foster families must fill out an application, provide references, undergo a background check, and complete training before they can take in a child.
Try-Again Homes requires people looking to adopt to foster for six months first.
"That time frame is just to make sure that they're going to be a good fit for the family, the family's going to be a good fit for them,"said Chrissy Pownell, a home finder for the organization. "A lot of people shy away because they're scared, they don't know what to expect. That's what we're there for. Call us. We'll answer any questions that you have."
Try-Again Homes will host a Meet and Greet event on Monday, February 25 at the Lowe Public Library in Shinnston.
