The Upshur County Commission discussed its sick leave policy with elected officials on Thursday.
The policy allows elected officials like the county clerk and the sheriff to take 120 days of unused sick leave and apply it to retirement service.
Some are concerned about the policy's wording, especially when it comes to providing documentation for verification.
"To avoid any future problems, when we talk about a policy, and when the county commission with the input of elected officials agree on a policy, then what we're going to do is sign an affidavit saying they received it and understand it and they will comply with it.," said Donnie Tenney, commission president.
The commission did approve retirement service credit for the county clerk, the assessor, and a former sheriff.
