A new fitness program designed for senior adults has made its way to Fairmont.
SilverSneakers is a free physical fitness program that focuses on basic fitness and low impact group exercises for seniors.
Monday was the first day for the class and more than 50 people have already joined.
Reverend Holley Faulkner is with the Celebrate Health! Coalition in Marion County and said he was happy to bring the program to his church.
"There is such a large population of senior adults here," he said. "They enjoy being together. Its needful to have this kind of exercise regimen in their life. We are delighted to offer it here."
Faulkner said SilverSneakers is always accepting new people.
Classes take place Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Baptist Temple in Fairmont.
Faulkner said if growth continues, SilverSneakers may have to add an additional class beginning at 9 a.m.
If you are interested in becoming a part of the program, you can contact Holley Faulkner at 304-363-0204.
