A robbery suspect lead police on a high-speed chase reaching more than 90 miles per hour into Pennsylvania early Wednesday morning, before Pennsylvania troopers forced the vehicle to come to a stop.
According to a press release from the Fairmont Police Department, Rocco Iacovone, 26, is now charged with fleeing while DUI, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest in Pennsylvania.
Iacovone is also believed to be the man that committed an armed robbery at a Subway in Fairmont over the weekend.
Fairmont Police said the chase started after a reported robbery at the White Hall Go Mart at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday. The robber took cash and cigarettes before fleeing in a white minivan.
An officer spotted a vehicle matching that description headed north on Interstate 79 and tried to stop it. Instead, the driver sped away.
Fairmont Police and Marion County Sheriff's Deputies pursued the vehicle into Pennsylvania, where state troopers joined in the chase.
At mile marker 14, near the Waynesburg exit, troopers deployed a spike strip which deflated at least one of the vehicle's tires. Iacovone made it to exit 19, and Pennsylvania troopers used a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle.
Troopers arrested Iacovone around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. He's currently in the Greene County Jail.
Iacovone is also suspected of robbing a gas station near the Meadows Casino in Washington County Pa.
