February 12 marks the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth.
The 16th president of the United States would have turned 204 this year.
Some students who attend the high school named after the late president, Lincoln High School, in Shinnston discussed how other presidential administrations showed their respect for Lincoln in Frank Spadafore's social studies class.
Spadafore said they talked about "what was done to honor him on this day throughout the 20th and 21st centuries such as the laying of the cornerstone, the building of the Lincoln memorial, the Lincoln penny, and how John F. Kennedy celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the emancipation proclamation."
Most of the high school students were already aware that it was his birthday, but Spadafore said they were interested in learning more.
