The Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia has named a Fairmont State University Professor a finalist for the 2012 Professor of the Year award.
Dr. Gregory Noone is one of five finalists to be considered for the award.
He has been a professor of Political Science and Law at FSU since 2007.
He is also director of the National Security and Intelligence Program.
He said being a finalist is an honor but it's more special to be recognized by FSU.
"It's more of an honor for me, having being selected by the university to go forward to compete in this competition," Noone said. "So really, I feel as through that the accomplishment of maybe winning isn't as great as having been selected by the university and my peers to go forward in this."
The award will be presented in March at a banquet in Charleston.
