A Morgantown night club owner has been charged with attempted tax evasion spanning from 2006 to 2007.
The U.S. Attorney's Office alleges that David Rees paid personal expenses on a credit card in the approximate amount of $533,152 but reported personal income to the IRS on an income tax return for the amount of $188,316.
The W.Va. Secretary of State's office lists Rees as the president and co-owner of AKA Enterprises. AKA Enterprises operates the night club Bent Willey's, located on Chestnut Street in Morgantown.
Rees is also accused of using a false Form 941 tax return to report wages and withholdings of employees when he actually paid his employees with cash, which was not declared on the form, according to legal filings.
Rees has not entered a plea in federal court as of Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
