Unemployment in Lewis County rose almost a full percentage point last month.
The county's unemployment rate had been dropping steadily since August of last year.
County Commissioner Agnes Queen blames the increase on a slowdown in seasonal hiring and work with the gas companies.
But she said there's still plenty of work available.
"We have several openings still, jobs trying to be filled that they haven't been able to get people to take advantage of the openings, especially in some of the other oil and gas industries in the county," Queen said.
Queen said Lewis County still has the seventh lowest unemployment among West Virginia counties.
