Miss West Virginia is back home after competing in the Miss America Pageant.
We checked in with Bridgeport native Kaitlin Gates Friday.
Gates said her once-in-a-lifetime trip was full of surprises.
"I made a ton of friends and had a lot of great experiences I wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to do otherwise. My feet hurt by the end of the 10 days, that was unfortunate all the heels I had to wear. It is something I would absolutely do again," Gates said.
Gates said she'd like to thank the community for its support.
