Schmitt's Saloon will soon be open on Cheat Road in Morgantown.
Renovations are being made on the building that will soon be a bar and restaurant co-owned by former West Virginia University football player Owen Schmitt.
Todd King, Schmitt's business partner, said the food will be made with a flair, and the décor will be all West Virginian.
"Our hamburgers are actually going to be stuffed with cheese, so when you bite them the cheese will come out. We have an appetizer that is sweet potato fries with bacon, dried banana chips, and peanut sauce on them. One of our signature items with be a deep fried pizza," said King.
Schmitt loved West Virginia so much that he wanted all of the wood to come from somewhere in the state.
"All of the wood is from West Virginia, barns from Preston and Monongalia Counties. A little bit of the wood is from Marion County, and the tin on the front of the bar is from Marion County. It's all reclaimed wood. The bar top is going to be old floor boards from Stonehouse in Brandonville from 1830," said Scott Frederick, who designed the restaurant.
Schmitt's Saloon will hold its grand opening on either February 2 or 3.
