A newly-formed parent organization addressed the Barbour County Board of Education Monday evening about the future of middle school sports programs.
The Barbour All County Sports Organization (BACSO) asked to meet with the board if it considers the possible elimination of middle school sports.
The board said it hasn't reached that point yet, but that it does have some tough decisions to make financially.
Eddy Poling of has two children in the district. Poling said parents want to work with the board to support a common goal and find a solution.
"This is just us saying, without a vote on a ballot, that yes, there are people that do want to help. It might not be the whole county, but there are people in this county that do want it to happen," said Poling.
The parent group met for the first time last week.
The board has until March to make a final decision on the matter.
