Peace Poster Contest Winners Recognized in Jane Lew

Posted: Updated:

The Jane Lew Lions Club sponsored the Lions International Peace Poster contest this year.

Two winners were honored at a Lions Club meeting Tuesday night.

Adin Post of St. Patrick's School in Weston and Courtney Lough of Robert L. Bland Middle School both received $100 awards from the Club.

Lough's poster went on to win the district and state contests and now is in the running for a national title.

Her poster featured a pair of army boots with dog tags and a pair of bunny slippers.

"My dad was a guardsman, and that's how I came up with the boots. And the bunny slippers are meant for the little girls who are waiting for their dads to come home," said Lough.

The theme for this year's contest was "Imagine Peace." Lough called her poster "Daddy's Home from War."

The national winner will be announced on or before February 1 and the winner will get $5,000.
