Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has awarded grants to 36 projects as part of the 2012 Transportation Enhancement Grant Program.
The program provides funding for non traditional transportation projects such as improving safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Counties in our area received money for projects that included sidewalk or crosswalk safety.
Randolph County received more than $115,000 for its crosswalk safety project.
This grant will assist with the installation of bike racks at three locations within the city and the installation of warning signs at six major intersections within the city.
