Heston Farm opened just one and a half years ago as a wine tasting room and distillery. Now it has the Foxfire Restaurant open with more plans in the works.
"We're going to be starting community gardens; we're going to have walking trails. We're going to do all sorts of neat things to bring people together and get them out" said Julie Smith, co-owner.
Heston Farm Winery and Pinchgut Hollow Distillery is soon to be one of very few businesses in the United States that is a winery, distillery, and brewery all in one. And even though it's known for its wine and whiskey, it's the variety of food that keeps people coming back for more.
"I like the variety of food because sometimes you want to eat light. They have a roasted vegetable salad, on the light side which is very good. Or you could have a steak or scallops; it's whatever you want to eat," said Susan Belton, regular customer.
Executive chef, Sean Coombs uses the alcohol in a lot of the cooking.
"We use the wines and whiskey mainly for sauces and for cooking. Almost everything that comes out of our kitchen has our wines or whiskey in it," said Mickey Heston, co-owner.
The food is all made in house, and the chefs use quality ingredients.
"We do a salmon several different ways. We do a flat iron steak, which is a little unusual around here but it is very popular," Heston said.
Heston Farm offers something different for everyone throughout the week with a brunch buffet on Sundays, open mic night on Thursdays, and special entertainment on Saturdays.
"We like to come here on Saturday night they have entertainment, live entertainment. Which is really nice, have a nice relaxing dinner" Belton said.
The décor of Foxfire adds to the dining experience.
"Every single place has been lovingly pulled together you know so people can enjoy it and look at it and say ‘what's this?' ‘How was that used on a farm?' But we've kind of turned it into different things and it takes a little bit sometimes to figure out what it is" Smith said.
Foxfire Restaurant offers something different for everyone, from fancy cuisine to the everyday favorites; it will have what you're looking for.
Heston Farm is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 1602 Tulip Lane in Fairmont.
