Monday night the city of Clarksburg held it's first ever New Year's Eve celebration in Jackson Square.
The party included food, drinks, entertainment, and even a ball drop and fireworks.
There was a large crowd, and Patsy Trecost, Clarksburg mayor, said he was surprised with the turnout.
"Last night went well. We never dreamed we were going to have so many people to tell you the truth, as a municipality. We prepared for everything we could. It was our first year so we weren't perfect this year but we'll be a whole lot better next year if we decide to have this, and I think we will" Trecost said.
With Monday's celebration going so well, Trecost said a similar party is likely next year, with a few changes.
"We can now accessorize. We can go into buying favors so people can blow their horns and wear their hats and have things down here to make it more of a friendly atmosphere. We wouldn't change a whole lot; it was a nice way to finish the year" Trecost said.
Trecost said they will try to get more food vendors and local bands to be at next year's celebration.
