Local churches held Christmas Eve services Monday night. The First Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg held both a family friendly service at 7 p.m. and a service at 11 p.m. which included communion.
Pastor John Koerner said that the Christmas Eve service is always a special one.
"The Christmas Eve service is really one of our special services during the year. Especially the candle light, it's always a special thing and the families love that. The 7 o'clock service we have that especially for children. So young children can get to bed and the parents can get home and do what they need to do" Koerner said.
The 7 p.m. service had the children's hand bell choir performing some songs, and the advent wreath was lit.
