A statewide push to make addresses more consistent for emergency response efforts has already started in Harrison County.
Some Harrison County residents already have received notification of their address changes. Others are still waiting.
There's been some confusion about what the change in address will mean for residents.
Harrison County's 911 director said most bills will automatically change to your new address through the post office but that you'll need to change some addresses yourself.
"Pay attention to things like DMV regulations for driver's license and license plates. Be familiar with their regulations for address changes. If you have any passports or identification type documents," said Paul Bump, of Harrison County 911.
The post office will honor your old address for one year after you get your new one.
