The viral video of a Golden Eagle snatching a child in a park is fake.
At least that's what its creators said.
An online posting from Centre NAD, a media training center in Montreal, said several of its students created the video.
A WVU professor in the Division Of Forestry and Natural Resources said he believed it was fake from the beginning because the bird's appearance, and flight pattern and behavioral characteristics, didn't match those of an eagle.
"Those of us who study birds, and bird conservation are actually a little bit disturbed by this, because this is the type of thing that can change people's mind about wildlife and give a negative impression or justification or persecution for wildlife, and that's really a bad thing," said Todd Katzner, of WVU.
Centre NAD's posting said the students are in its 3D Animation and Digital Design program.
