The Ritchie County Commission met with the public Tuesday night to unveil some new plans for Harrisville.
The commission plans to build a new judicial annex next door to the courthouse.
The annex will add more space and also give the magistrate court a permanent home after it has had to move to three different locations.
The commission also will increase security in both the courthouse and the annex.
"Eventually, the state Supreme Court wants us to increase the security, and eventually we will probably end up having to look at adding security to the front door of the courthouse, where people will come in and have to go through the metal detector," said Commissioner Samuel Rogers.
The commission has not set a date for construction to start.
