The "Senior Monongalians" closed off its scheduled board meeting to the public Tuesday after receiving threats.
Last week, an anonymous letter was sent to the senior center, making complaints and threatening 'war' at this week's board meeting.
The board said closing off the meeting was in the best interest of protecting people.
"We took it as a threat of violence," said Matthew Nelson, of the Senior Monongalians. "We're not certain whether it meant physical violence, or simply raised tempers at the meeting from the public, but in the interest of erring on side of caution, we decided to close that meeting."
Senior Monongalians recorded the meeting, so the taping will be available to anyone interested.
