"We think the people of our community are going to love the idea of coming out to Jackson Square instead of sitting at home watching Times Square on television," said council member Gary Bowden.
"I'm hoping a lot of people come out. I think that would be great. We've got live entertainment. It should be good," said fire chief Rick Scott.
The city plans to ring in the new year with fireworks on Lowndes Hill and maybe even a rendition of "Clarksburg, Clarksburg."
